Meet the Coaches from the Wichita Ice Center

Renie Daisey

Renie Daisey

Head Professional

Ms. Daisey, a former Pacific Coast Sectional and US National competitor known for her technical and artistic strengths, began her teaching career in 1962 in California.

A seasoned professional, she instructed, coached, and has been responsible for having trained skaters of all levels and ages from basic skills up through high levels of competition with emphasis on strong technical fundamentals while instilling the art and joy of skating.

Renie also exercised her entrepreneurial strengths, having built a high altitude training and community recreation facility in California. She later went on to take over and finish the start up of a large multi-use recreational facility in Utah serving as the Arena Manager and Skating Director in both facilities.

Actively involved in the skating world, and having taught in six major US skating cities, she is pleased to bring her experience and teaching skills to Wichita.

Renie also teaches Learn to Skate classes at the Wichita Ice Center.

Jesse Nightingale

Jesse Nightingale

Level 2 USFS Professional Coach

When Jesse started skating at the age of eight, she got on the ice and never looked back. Her love for the sport has driven her to compete at Regional competitions, earn a bronze model at Nine States Championships, and achieve gold medals in Moves in the Field and Solo Free Dance. She is currently competing at the Junior level and aiming for her Gold Medals in Freestyle and Pattern Dance.

Jesse coaches low- to high-level skaters in Moves in the Field, Freestyle, Ice Dance, and Off-Ice Training. Jesse also has years of experience teaching group classes of varying ages and levels and teaches Learn to Skate classes at the Wichita Ice Center.

In addition to competing and coaching, Jesse attends Wichita State University and majors in Digital Arts with minors in Music and English Language and Literature.

Through her many years of competing and coaching, Jesse has learned that figure skating teaches courage in the face of fear and setbacks, determination and perseverance when everything seems to go wrong, and the grace to accept failure. Skating has brought her so much joy, and she aims to bring that joy and love for skating to every student she teaches.
